Going on a Whale Watch

by Bruce McMillan

Published by Scholastic, 1992
40 pages
ISBN: 0-590-45768-3

Ages 4 - 7

An Atlantic whale watching expedition reveals dolphins, Fin whales, Humpback whales, and Minke whales in headstands, tail-lobbing splashes, lunge feedings, spinning breaches, and other activities. Two children are shown watching the creatures, as each new species is displayed in a variety of poses. One or two word descriptions narrate each photograph, which are also accompanied by line drawings showing the whole animal, including any underwater portion not visible in the photographs. Four concluding pages briefly describe the four whales featured and provide a visual glossary. CCBC categories: The Natural World. 1992, Scholastic Hardcover, 40 pages, $14.95.
