The Seven Silly Eaters

by Mary Ann Hoberman
Illustrated by Marla Frazee

Published by Browndeer Press/Harcourt Brace, 1997
38 pages
ISBN: 0-15-200096-8

Ages 4 - 8

Pure nonsense abounds in this rhyming tall tale about the plight of Mrs. Peters, who has seven children who are such fussy eaters it becomes nearly impossible for her to serve a meal that more than one of them will eat. The pleasure here is the manner in which the author has taken her idea to extremes, bound only by the limits of rhyming iambic pentameter. The detailed pen and ink illustrations show each of the family members as distinctive as their individual tastes. CCBC categories: Picture Books.  © Cooperative Children's Book Center
