Quick Search Tips

The Book Search feature on the CCBC web site searches titles the CCBC recommends in its annual best-of-the-year list, CCBC Choices, and in CCBC thematic or topical bibliographies.

Using the Quick Search box (above), you can search by TITLE, by DESCRIPTION (keyword in the CCBC annotation, such as "African American," "school,"), and by PERSON (author, illustrator, photographer, compiler).

Tip: For the PERSON search, use last name only (Myers), or whole name (Walter Dean Myers).
Do not use Last Name, First Name (Myers, Walter Dean).

You can click on each title that comes up in your search results to find out more about the book. Most books in the database will have publication information as well as the CCBC annotaion (review) and age recommendation.

Keep in mind that this database only includes titles recommended by the CCBC.

Also try the ADVANCED SEARCH for additional filtering by genre, CCBC Choices age, and multicultural categories .

Locating books for borrowing or purchase: Most of the recommended books in our database can be found through public or school libraries. Some of the books are out of print and will not be available for purchase new, but used copies may be available from local or online booksellers. To find out if a book is currently in print and available for purchase, check with your local bookseller, or an online bookstore. Books are not available for loan or purchase at or through the CCBC.
