Winding Rivers Library System Workshop

CCBC librarians Merri Lindgren and Megan Schliesman will present at a daylong workshop for the Winding Rivers Library System on Thursday, April 2, at the Holmen Public Library. In the morning, Merri and Megan will facilitate a discussion on Everyday Reading: Diverse Books where participatns will explore what they can do to encourage library patrons to embrace the wide range of choices being offered. In the afternoon, they will present on Great New Books for Children and Teens, highlighting books from CCBC Choices 2020. Books selected for CCBC Choices 2020 will be available for hands-on book examination along with 2020 American Library Association award-winners and best-of-the-year list titles throughout the day.

Rhinelander Children's Book Fest

CCBC librarians Merri Lindgren and Megan Schliesman will talk about great new (c2019) books for children and teens from birth through high school-age at the annual Rhinelander Children’s Book Fest on Tuesday evening, March 10 (browsing starts at 4; presentation on books for K-12 from 6:30-8) and Wednesday, March 11 (registration and browsing starts at 8:30; presentation on books for birth – grade 12 from 9:30-noon). Merri and Megan will highlight books from CCBC Choices 2020 at this event sponsored by the Rhinelander District Library, Headwaters Reading Council, the School District of Rhinelander, Northern Waters Library Service and Wisconsin Valley Library Service. All of the Choices books will be available for hands-on book examination throughout the day, along with recently announced American Library Association children’s and young adult literature award winners and best-of-the-year list titles for youth.

Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association Conference

CCBC librarians Merri Lindgren, Megan Schliesman and Madeline Tyner will be presenting three sessions at the WEMTA annual conference on Monday, March 23, in the Wisconsin Dells. Merri, Megan and Maddie will talk about Great New Books for K-5 Libraries and Great New Books for Grade 6-12 Libraries, highlighting books from CCBC Choices 2020, the most recent edition of the CCBC's annual best-of-the-year list. All of the Choices books will be available throughout the day Monday for hands-on book examination, along with the 2020 American Library Association (ALA) award winners.

Megan will also present a session titled It's about Equity: Making a Case for Intellectual Freedom.

Merri, Megan and Maddie will highlight books from CCBC Choices 2020, all of which will be available for hands-on book examination throughout the day along with American Library Association 2020 award and best-of-the-year list books for youth.
