Announcing the Newest CCBC Librarian

The CCBC staff is pleased to announce that Katie Kiekhaefer will be joining the ranks as the newest CCBC librarian, following a lengthy and competitive recruitment. Katie’s collection management knowledge, administrative leadership, mentoring skills, and Wisconsin connections make her an asset to CCBC’s library services and outreach efforts.

Katie has spent the last twelve years as the Head of Youth Services at the Whitefish Bay Public Library, and before that, she worked at Community Library in Western Kenosha County and at the Cedarburg Public Library.  She is active in the Wisconsin library community: acting as chair of Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) Youth Services Section in 2019, presenting at the WLA annual conference in 2012, 2015, and 2019, and, most recently, serving as a mentor for WLA’s mentorship program in 2024.  From 2022-2025, Katie was a member of the CCBC’s external advisory board.  Katie has a B.A. degree in English from Carroll College in Waukesha (now Carroll University) and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Katie’s position will commence in February 2026. This position fills a vacancy left by the retirement of Megan Schliesman in 2025.
