All We Need
CCBC Review:
A rhyming narrative provides riddling descriptions of things humans need to survive and thrive, with the answer to each riddle revealed with the drama of a page turn. “All we need / is what falls from above / to fill up our glass and our bucket and tub, / to drink to feel cool, to splash when it’s hotter … / All we need … / [turn page] “ … is water.” The need for air, to learn, a home, food, family and friends, and finally, to share, are each illuminated across six other riddles. Readers and listeners can follow a cast of diverse children and families throughout the watercolor, gouache and colored-pencil illustrations in a visual story that culminates with everyone gathered at a community meal. ©2022 Cooperative Children’s Book Center
