Wind and Water (Vivi Loves Science)
CCBC Review:
Following a storm in her ocean-side town, Vivi (Asian/Black) and her classmate Graeme (Black) help clean up the beach debris with a group of volunteers. Noticing the missing tide pools and flattened dunes, Vivi and Graeme wonder how a rainstorm could cause so much change. Ranger Earle helps explain the power of wind and water, specifically the effect of erosion. Back at school, Vivi and Graeme demonstrate their new knowledge with the help of their teacher, Ms. Cousteau. The erosion experiments performed by the classmates are included at the end of this illustrated beginning reader text. A glossary and additional examples of landscapes changed by wind and water, such as caves and canyons, are included. ©2023 Cooperative Children’s Book Center
