The Everything Book
Most books for toddlers don't have 64 pages but then, most books for toddlers don't have a little bit of everything in them. The sorts of of things that interest babies and toddlers are all here: from shapes and colors to kitchen toys and body parts; the numbers from one to five, the alphabet, meal time, pets, seasons, babies' faces, a train, traffic lights, and a selection of nursery songs and rhymes. All are exquisitely illustrated with Fleming's signature bright colors. She created the illustrations by pouring color cotton fiber through hand-cut stencils, and the result is a level of aesthetic experience generally not created for babies and toddlers. Fleming has also placed at least one ladybug on every double-page spread, usually in plain sight, but occasionally hidden to require a bit of searching. ©2001 Cooperative Children's Book Center
