Turtle Walk
Over the course of a year in seasons, a turtle family (two big, two small) travel from their cave-like hole near a pond, around the nearby area, and return to their home. “Turtle walk. Nice and slow. Here we go. Are we there yet? No.” This refrain (with some slight modifications) repeats throughout their journey, until the satisfying speedy descent down a snowy hill for the grand finale. Their route takes them through springtime wildflowers, summer sun and an active playground, and an autumn orchard and pumpkin patch. The watercolor illustrations are the very definition of cozy and comforting, and the patterned text invites listener participation. ©2021 Cooperative Children’s Book Center
